With new MB, I can no longer access my older, analog phone line modem.
The isapnp startup had an older isapnp.conf file.
I assume one uses pnpdump to make a new one with the correct ISAPNP port. I
found an address 0213 in the /proc/ioports and I seem to get a sensible conf
file using this

I solved this by deactivating my script that was attempting to set the
isapnp manually. The modem did end up at ttyS0 (vs the old ttyS2), so
I adjusted /etc/ppp/peers/provider accordingly.
Interestingly, my soundcard (isapnp Soundblaster) also seems to have
ended up using new resources; at least

I have a isa pnp modem which did not work after upgrading to 2.4.2. I got it
to work by manually calling isapnp "isapnp /etc/isapnp.conf". The command
seemed to fail with a resource conflict - but the modem worked.

Well, IRQs are always a headache. But if humans can't do it, do you
think computers can do it better? look at /proc/interrupts and
/proc/ioports to see what your system is taking. (You probably know
that already.)

modem. It reconizes my serial card on boot, but I can't seem to make it
work.

Kernel compilation does nothing to isapnp.conf
You have to do pnpdump (if you havent done do yet), and configure the card
manually.

I'm trying to get my GUS PnP working under Debian 2.0 using Kernel
2.0.35, isapnp and the corresponding alsa-modules.
My first question: Is the alsa-Driver OSS-compatible? I initialized my GUS
using isapnp as I've done under my prev. distro(it worked there), but
I am trying to configure a pnp sound card.
But it seems that /etc/init.d/isapnp did not
start first, so kernel could not initialize
