Wouldn't have been better to get "wicd" instead? :-?

Hi,
I'm running debian 6.0.4 for amd64, with XFCE. I recently installed
network-manager so I could use my Wi-Fi card, this installed hal as a
dependency. The Wi-Fi now works properly but I have two known issues:
- The resolution changed from 1280x1024 to 1280x960, and I can't
change it back using

My initial description was rather vague. I have burned the first three
CDs and the Debian installer dutifully asks if I would like to read them
and index the available packages. It does this and puts the appropriate
entries for the CDs into /etc/apt/sources.lis

I have successfully installed debian 2.2r3 but the onboard intel ethernet
adapter was not recognized.
Anyone know what I need to do to get it recognized and listed as /dev/eth0?

I just installed potato on my system. I can't find a driver for my network
card in modconf (it's a 3Com 3C905C-TX), and therefore I can't download any
software packages. Anyone know where I can get one? Is there another way
besides CD-ROM to get packages, like mabe from a DOS partition?

Everytime I try to modprobe my linksys network cards or use modconf to
intsall the module into the kernel, it fails. I am using the tulip driver
that comes with the 2.2.17 kernel. I installed the kernel binary.
I have tried with 3c509b cards also using the 3c509.o module to no avail

I'm having trouble beginning setting up my debian system with an ne2000
card. During install, the card installed correctly, with correct i/o
address and interrupt. I also entered all of the ip / host / domain
info. correctly.
Everytime I start up, though, I get the messages:
