I think you have some third-party IDE controller on the mainboard
(with a Marvell chip) which has a faulty driver. The problem is not

Hi,
I have two CD-DVD writers on this machine. It is equipped with a ASUS
P5 which supports IDE and SATA. One of these CD-DVD writers is
connected through IDE.
Here is the output of `lshw' for the problematic CD-DVD writer:
