it can be a damaged hard disk but i had this problem to, like a year
ago, and disabled SMART for the offending harddrives and never had that
problem again, so you might want to try that.

either your drive is misconfigured in the bios or by LILO (would be nice
if you included full info on the drive that your getting errors on)
but its more likely that the drive is failing, if its a recent IBM or

Help would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting this IO error when
booting my debian linux machine. And e2fsck won't fix it.
