Maybe the data on your rescue disk is corrupt. Try with a new rescue disk.

Just hit alt-F2 to switch to another virtual console and log in there
(there may already be a shell running in vc#2 when booting from the
installation disk, I don't remember it precisely).

Hello,
I'm installing Debian Linux onto a completely clean system. I know the
hardware works because i had Linux working on it before. In the meantime
i have used MS-DOS fdisk to remove all partitions.
