I think I have read somewhere it is ctrl-alt-del then possibly
some other ctrl-alt combination. If all else feels, disconect
the keyboard, and something in the bios definatly comes up then.
(I'm not sure whether you can get in the bios itself from
that though, but its worth a try.)
In order to install Debian to my ThinkPad 560, I had to use the Tecra disk in
place of the rescue disk.

I did not speak about Debian Linux Instalation ! :)
( nor for rescue nor bootup diskette !!! )
Some IBM computers ( may be all ) have got setup ( for their hardware ) on
their HDD
( on separate hdd partition ).
On other computers I press "DEL" and enter in setup program to configure HDD,
