I've seen others here on the list cast a dark eye towards HP DAT drives. We use one here in the office (yes, we too use dump) and I like it just fine. I just wish I had a DDS2 unit. Anyway I'd say that the only acceptable alternative would be an 8mm system. I would not recommend Travan

Hi Ben, One of my colleagues has a 12/24GB DDS-3 HP tape drive and hasn't had any problems with his RedHat 5 installation nor with his hard drives. He has a motherboard with onboard SCSI. I believe that his hard drives are both wide SCSI devices connected to the wide channel/connector and his CD
