I use Debian because I think that it is more stable than any other distro.
It is more stable because (I believe) it has a better package management
system and the debian software goes through more rigorous testing before it
is released.

I have a Linksys LNE100TX, also tulip driver, and get the same error if
I reboot from Windows into Linux. Problem is fixed if I start Linux from
a cold boot as opposed to restarting from windows. Have you tried this?
