Ok I fixed the problem myself. I realised that I was using the Ximian debian
packages for gimp.
I replaced gimp1.2 gimp1.2-perl and libgtk-perl with the original debian ones
and it now works.
Beware of ximian.

Hi,
This is the second time I have been burnt by the scripting API changing in
Gimp. When I went from
Gimp 1.0 to 1.1 I had to change all my script-fu scripts. Now I can't get my
old (1.1) perl scripts
working with Gimp 1.2. This sucks.
I have installed Debian packages for gimp1.2 gimp1.2-perl
