1. Make a backup copy of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and then remove
the original file.
2. Install nvidia-glx package.
3. Stop X server, unload any older nvidia modules a

Yes:
1. apt-get install nvidia-glx
(make sure you remove any traces of the nvidia installer or any other
attempts before that)

I am on Squeeze amd64 6.0.5
When Squeeze first came out I managed to install the nVidia driver on
one of my other machines using the driver from the nVidia site and not
Debian's Wiki way, touch wood it works to this day.
Yet on this machine, I failed a few weeks ago using the nVidia driv
