I was hoping some folks here could give me some suggestions on setting
up an email to fax gateway.
My project is basically to provide a mechanism so someone can email to a
an address in my office (eg "[EMAIL PROTECTED]") and have that email
automatically faxed out. This idea is to eli

probably put it where it belongs.
Before I start tearing into it's .conf files, is the a solid send/receive
fax package? Is there an alternative? I saw eFax, but nothing else caught
my eye.
Finally, do these packages have print-driver for "print to fax"

Is anyone aware of a fax program that would do the following:
Receive faxes which are immediately printed but can also be sent to the
appropriate email address depending on the intended recipient. I
realize that some user would have to view the faxes in order to
determine whom to send them
Dear all - I would like to install mgetty-fax on my Potato server. This
does not run X, and it never will, so I would rather save space and
cpu-cycles and not install any x related things.
However, is I do:
apt-get install mgetty-fax -s
I get a horrible bunch of x stuff rated as dependencies

At the moment I need to su in order to send a fax. How do I fix it so
that I can send a fax as a normal user?
Pertinent info:
Kernel 2.2.17
Mgetty running from Pototao 2.2R3

I am planning to buy an external modem to receive faxes and (hopfully) voice
messages[*]. Does anyone have a brand or model to recommend?
More ambitiously, I'd like to play around with setting up a voicemail system
on a Linux box with a couple incoming lines---the type that greets the caller

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, to ask this, but here goes.
I'm happily using mgetty to send faxs out, but I need to receive the
occasional fax as well. I can't have the modem auto-answer, as this
would disrupt the separate voicemail system, so I need to be able to

Try the Brother MFC-9600. It's a great value for the money. It's a
laser printer, copier, and fax in one for only about $600 US. It's not
network ready so you would have to hook it up to either a PC or one of
those small HP JetDirect PrintServers. I don't think it ha
