STuck - Dselect FTP through Firewall

What is dselect passing to my ftp proxy??? I can go through the firewall manually but I need to figure out exactly what commands dselect is generating. Can I monitor this somehow I do not have man pages or anything to help me because I can not run dselect from ftp and I do not have
