Your questions may not be aimed at me but at Lorint Hendschel;
however, here are my experiences:

I did. (Not because anything was broken, but because the institution
moved from thin ethernet to cat5.) The problem
n, selected the module (over and
over till it worked) and it worked just fine.

Hi,
Can you ping from the other machines to your linux machine ?
I see you use the 10base T port, does your hub indicate that the
netword card is functioning ?
You could also try changing to another 3com509 module. There are
differences betheen the PNP and non-PNP version of this card.

Well, just for the heck of it, I removed the card, reinstalled it
and recompiled the kernel again. This time it found the card,
loaded it properly, and eth0 is up and running! Thanks so much

If you are using Frozen from January 27 the boot disks had problems.
They have now been corrected.
Try switching slots...

Greetings,

for the install of my cable modem in a week or so, and after recompiling the

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a line for the module in

Thanks again.

Did you configure the network when installing Debian, if you didn't you
should edit /etc/init.d/network, if you configured the network when
installing (and configured it right) you shouldn't.

Hi all. Sorry if this is a bit long. I'm running Slink 2.1 (r2) and
trying to get a 3Com900 ethernet (PCI) card working. I've done the
following:
Compiled driver from source (D Becker) and put this 3c90x.o in
/lib/modules/2.0.36/net
Added alias eth0 3com90x to /etc/modutils/alias (at the end - is t
what kinda ethernet card do you have? if it's an isa you'll need to give the
IO base argument using io=0xnnn where nnn is the IO base. if it's pci it should
work automatically. i'm assuming that you're trying to do this during
the debian installation process, am i right?
if not you'll hef to do so
You will need to use ifconfig to set up your network adapter. For
example:
ifconfig eth0 1.2.3.4
You also will also need to add routes depending on what kind of network
environment you are in (is this machine a gateway, or does it use another
machine as its gateway, etc.). Respond to the list
Hi
Once the debian base system is installed how to config the ethernet card?.

Thank you
