In the superblock of your ext2 filesystem is a counter. Every time
you mount the fs the counter is i
ge at boot
time saying "EXT2-fs warning: maximal mount count reached, running e2fsck is
recommended."
I own 4 books on Linux (one Debian-specific) and I do not find anything
anywhere about a "maximal mount count." Can someone please interpret this for
me and tell me how I

You posted about this once before. Did you try -
tune2fs
it tells me running e2fsck is
recommended.
after I run it (e2fsck /dev/hde5),
it still says the same message.
How do you overcome the annoyance.

Hello List,
I have a strange problem with my debian machines:
>From time to time there are warnings on syslog:
EXT2-fs warning (device ide(xx,y)): ext2_free_inode bit already cleared for
inode
when i run fsck i got errors, and some files were repaired, that is copied to
lost+found.
var/log/messages.

This is a first for me
This has just started showing up on the console and in /var/log/messages.
Running fsck reported some "duplicate/bad blocks".
Any idea what's happening? Time to replace the drive?
Jun 5 23:55:00 selma kernel: EXT2-fs warning (device 03:01):

Hello,
i have a (small?) Problem with my Seagate Medialist EIDE.
in the syslog-file /var/log/messages some messages like this one:
EXT2-fs warning (device 16:08): ext2_free_blocks: bit already cleared for block
24575
will arrive when i delete more than 1000 Files or delete one huge file
[regarding chronic filesystem errors]
About the only additional thing I can suggest is upgrading your kernel
(we are now at 2.0.13, I think) and watching to see if the problem goes
away.

The message is in hex (which is probably a mistake). It's hdc2 and hdc1.

Hi all,
I'm happily running Debian 1.1 with Kernel 2.0.10 on several different
machines here, but last week one of these began to show these messages (after
a crash due to a power failure):
EXT2-fs warning (device 16:01): ext2_free_inode: bit already cleared for inode
