Sure, coup is a word, and "coup d'etat" is an example of its usage.

I was searching the Internet to find an Italian vocabulary to use with
`dict` [1]. Aso you might know, `dict` needs two files, a '.dict.dz' one and
an '.index' file.
After a bit of searching, I found a page with an Italian Stardict vocabulary
[2].

Why isn't /usr/share/dict/words managed by alternatives? Why does it
point to /etc/dictionaries-common/words which in turn points back to
/usr/share/dict/american-english (for me)? Wouldn't the alternatives
system be perfect for this? Just curious.
