You could add a line into lilo.conf
default = winlabel
Then save it, run
lilo /etc/lilo.conf and reboot.
This should take care of a problem.

That is correct; the first entry is the default.
However, you MUST run /sbin/lilo (as superuser), or your changes will not be
recognised.
