it did not work out to list the other partitions with their UUID.

looks quite different from a 2.6.31 ramdisc on another computer.
Unfortunately I did run update-initramfs -k all, and now even the 2.6.26
kernel refuses to boot. Same error.

but if it does, it seems you could even use a card reader (with a card
inserted, of course) instead of a stick, and it doesn't matter if the
stick says that is supports booting or not. Unetbootin is awesome

(according to lshw) contains a "Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24/30
CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio Accelerator" (pci id 1013:6003).
/proc/asound/cards shows no soundcards, and I assume this is because
there is no snd-cs46xx.ko module
