I have installed Debian 1.2.5 on a virgin system and want to configure the PPP network device. I have recompiled the kernel and get the right sort of messages during boot up. I can 'ifconfig dummy' and 'ifconfig lo' to install the dummy and loopback, however a 'ifconfig ppp' gives me an error of
