According to Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt, vga=… is x86 only:

i try to install an qemu-sparc version of debian wheezy 7.6 (dvd-iso)
the qemu graphics emulation is not full ready yet (freezing very early,
textmode works) so i want to
try using the vga=ask boot parameter if there is a working framebuffer
variant
but the vga=ask parameter seems to be deprec

This says that you have to manually install "libc-dev" first.

oes updating against ftp.us.debian.org not mark libc6.1-dev 2.11.3-3
as the latest version, and pull in all of the 2.11.3-3 packages?
Or, if 2.11.3-2 is the correct "most recent" package for Squeeze ia64..

doing a proper install. Only the CDs worked.

Prior to the release of Lenny, I downloaded one of the Lenny release

Is this still possible with the released version of Lenny? Or do I need
all 5 of the DVD's?
Thanks,

Hello,
I haven't built a computer in over 3 years.
I seem to remember people mentioning difficulties
installing etch (or was it sarge?) from a sata dvdrom.
Is there a reason to stick to IDE(PATA) for the
cd/dvd unit or can i safely go for an all sata
(HD&DVD) setup?

Actually I own a PX-712A and it works quite well for me running
Debian testing with the 2.5.15.5 kernel. The only thing I needed to do
was give the libata module the "atapi_enabled=1" option. Works great
burning a 4.5GB DVD in about 15-20 minutes.

In fact everything is ok up to the "cd-rom" detection. Then I tried to select
manually the packages & the 2.6 kernel too but nothing can resolve it. I think
it's the fault of the crappy sata controller on the k8mm-v (msi) which is not
recognized by the kernel installer. Any suggestion?
