OK, I downloaded the Communicator 4.5 file, again. I am using hamm. I ran dselect and the Netscape installation program. The file was in /tmp. I got the same error message as below. I then tried using, dpkg -i netscape-unpacked.9955/ I got the following readout: dpkg-split: error reading nets

I had a weird experience when installing Netscape 4.5 using 'Hamm', in that I had to rename the netscape file that I downloaded before the install program would recognise it. When dselect trys to configure the netscape package it complained that it could not find the right file and gave a generic

You are using the mv command correctly. (You should also be able to use cp). So that is not the problem. The most likely cause is that you are typing in the filename incorrectly. It is easy to mix up - or . with _. Also, the file name might have a space at the end. Try using "mv /root/comm* /
