Sound error: Can't allocate DMA buffer

Does anybody know how to get around the sound dma buffer problem? I am pretty sure the problem is that the system can't find any free memory in the bottom 16MB. I think that there is a way to lock in the dma buffer, but I don't remember how, and I haven't managed to find the right documentation.

Hi, I've encountered this problem too with a 2.0.36 kernel and a SB16 kernel module. Especially after handling large (300Mb) files in xwave. The following two messages found at dejanews:

Can't allocate DMA buffer

Hi, I'm running the most recent kernel (2.2.7), and I also use a Crystal semiconductor sound card, so I have the cs4232 kernel module. Sometimes I get the kernel error: kernel: Sound error: Couldn't allocate DMA buffer I have plenty of available memory left, so I don't understand why I am ge
