In most cases, no. There are a few exceptions (see the archives) and
for these exceptions, optimized versions are normally already available.

Nobody's ever demonstrated it to be worth it for more than a small
minority of packages.

Hi,
I wonder whether anyone could help me with this:
I am installing Debian on my new laptop. And I thought I might try
building i686 optimized packages from the source packages. I
understand, that there is at least two ways:
