I have a very basic setup - a smarthost that I dial up to,
and a local network (lan) in my home. My error was with
the local interfaces option - I specified specific IP addresses
for all machines on my network, instead of using the default.
I used dpkg-reconfigure to go back and correct my mistake

Make sure that debconf did it's job. Check
/var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated and ensure no DEBCONF is in it. The past

I moved my machine from the office to home - I now dial-up with a ppp
connection. I would like to fetchmail from the same server as before, and
have the same procmail running through it.
This almost works - fetchmail does get the mail OK, but then I get:
