I'm setting up a debian box to use as an mp3 player for a car.. What
I need it to do is automatically login when you power it up. I found
some resources on how to accomplish that by patching mingetty but I
was wondering if theres an easier way.

I reinstalled my 2.1 debian base last week. When it got to the point
where the box reboots then asks me to set a root password, it
rejected every password I tried. I tried various combinations of
numbers and letters but everything was rejected.
