I just recently installed and successfully converted an rpm package to a deb
package. I installed the deb package and there were no errors... or so I
thought. The package that I converted was the j2sdk_1.4.0_01 and now
whenever I try to run anything binaries from java, I get
message like this one:

I would suggest that it is better to convert the rpm packages to deb
with alien before using. I have been doing this for months, and I have
not have one (obvious) problem yet ... the packages convert without fail
and install and run just fine. The reason I suggest doing this instead
of installing
