For the major compile, pre2.2.4pre8, the kernel-package.deb route has
worked fine. Within /usr/src/linux
make-kpkg --revision=laptop.1 kernel_image
After which
dpkg -i /usr/src/kernel-image-version.deb
installs kernel+selected modules. I've had to do the pcmcia modules "by
hand" h
