Thanks to all who offered help. Turns out it wasn't my ISP's DNS
server that was out of date - it was my /etc/hosts file . I'd
forgotten I set some addresses in there way back when, to try to
speed things up. I took out that line and everything works fine now.

Weird. I tried plugging that into my browser, it changed to
http://www.debian.org/distrib/ftplist . Loads ok but

I doubt it. Stock Debian 2.2.18pre21 from a potato CD. That's that
congestion thing, isn't it? I was thinking it might be that but I
couldn't remember what it was called and also didn't want to toss
out any red herrings.

dig master.debian.org gives 65.125.64.135 here.
dig -x 216.234.231.5 doesn't give an answer, so not sure what that
address is :)

Hi all!
It seems that with our recent IP change on master.debian.org Novare has

I would like it if everyone could check that these two IPs are not listed

I have one possible solution here:

This is what I hope to be the final test build of XFree86 3.3.2.3a-9; if
there are no significant problems it will be released with that version

outstanding against XFree86.

nothing under Debian.
I just got a msg from Christian saying it may be an ftpd error.

Shouldn't there be a symlink there? I think the Mirrors file gives

yggdrasil.com is also down (Even the DNS Servers are not reachable!) and
