I've recently got a new 'old' computer (a p60) withy 2 ide channels
instead of one where my secondary debian system used to live.
So after recompiling the kernel to add pci bios support for the new
'old' p60, i threw the disks from the older 486 into the p60.
Everything is fine and it work
