I have tried to use skype (although on broadband, not modem as is in your
case) before. But for some reason, the calls drop out after some time. If
we reconnect after the call drops out, then there wont be any soun

Hi, not sure about dial up, but it works fine with my laptop broadband
card. Im sure it will probably work, but your not going to get the
voice quality you would with a non dial up connection.
