I am having the same problem after upgrading to potato. /etc/localtime is a symlink to /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern . There isn't a /usr/share/zoneinfo anymore, and there isn't a file called 'Eastern' on my system. dselect tells me that the "timezones" package conflicts with, libc6. it also say

I am running potato and have glibc 2.1 installed and date reports GMT time rather than EST. I realize that the timezone package was replaced by glibc 2.1 but I can't figure out how to tell it to use EST rather than GMT. The date command produces telmer:~$ date Wed Mar 17 23:44:56 /etc/localtime 19
