I just built a testing box that is using the 2.6.4 kernel, a matrox g200
graphics card with framebuffer compiled into the kernel. I am now

1. In xemacs, I can get a very nice looking font for the actual editing.

It seems that since the beginning of time, Xemacs never performed
syntax highlightin automatically when a file is loaded. On one of my
machines, however, it is now doing just that. I have always had
syntax highlighting in my initialization file.

use a smart-host? You probably need to know the name of the mail server
at our ISP.
Regarding your hostname, you can specify what you email address should
be (usually set by your ISP). The local host name shouldn't matter.

I have chatted with people at AMD about the AGP bug and they contend
that it is fixed in the in 2.4.20 kernel. Is this true in the debian
2.4.20 kernel sources package? My machine still hangs randomly, and
when it does, XFree86 is running at ~98% cpu.

I am testing memory with memtest86 and, so far, I'm finding nothing
wrong. These machines die at random placesin a job. where they die
doesn't follow any logical pattern. Are there any pathologies with this
main board.

I have been reading the threads on fonts on this list. My problem seems
similar, yet different. Star Office doesn't find many of the standard fonts,

my paranoid fashion I'm guessing that the US government is
doing a lot of email filtering. There is a lot of foreign traffic on this
site (one of its advantages) but probably an attraction for surveillance.

My trajectory to debian actually started when I got out of Grad school (1981)
and decided that I wanted to do calculations at home. My first home machine was
a Kaypro with two (count them!) floppy drives
I have used seyon successfully for dialup. It also works well for communicating
