Sound from speakers when headphone plugged

Hi, I don't have any trouble with playing sound. But even if i put headphones in the jack, Speakers continue playing under linux. However under NT only headphones are on as expected. I am not able to play without disturbing others. I am not able to find what is wrong ? How can I do this ? Thx
