if your system is Optimus you need install bumblebee and configure it, I
had same problem recently.
Steps:
kill lightdm
install nvidia-driver
install nvidia-xconf
run nvidia-xconf
reboot
install bumblebee
configure bumblebee
restart service of bumblebee
I also archieve this steps using nvi

I suggest you install mate-desktop (looks like gnome2) instead of gnome3 if

It's early to talk about but the memory usage it's too much (3.5 GB RAM)
with Debian Jessie. I using ISO (cd-1) of debian.org and have this problem.
The normal usage with Debian Wheezy (7.8.0) is 800~900mb, anyone has the
