new slink release?

2000-03-04 Thread paulwade
This is not a bitch, just curious. I notice changes to slink on ftp.debian.org but the symlinks still say 2.1r4 which could mean that the updates are not all there yet. I would guess that a 2.1r5 release is happening here. Does anyone who knows for sure care to post something to this list? Are th

Try ftp.greenbush.com for a kernel-image. These may not support your net card but can be used. The ones with scsiemul in the name are what you want. The 2.2.13 was built only for recovering an NTFS partition to CD. The 2.0.36 is used on some CD replication machines here. It works well with hp 4x an

I know some people don't want to compile a kernel. They just want to be able to use the cd recorder. There are some packaged kernels at ftp.greenbush.com for ide cd writing. The 2.2.13 was recently built mainly because I needed to write files from an NTFS(ugh) partition to CD-RW after NT crashed

I did this with a 386 a few times. Basically, it seems that once the kernel is loaded the obsolete BIOS is no longer an obstacle. Here's 3 setups I have used. 1) boot from a linux partition at the beginning and then mount large partition(s). 2) boot from a floppy. The drive had 1 large root parti

I know there are some that send jpeg over a serial cable, which kills both birds with one stone. Some others might use 3-wire RS-232 but still leave the problem of decoding a strange file format. I understand that the Sony Mavica series write *.jpg files to a standard md-dos formatted 1.44 mb flo

I use it on a bo platform. Look at the dependancies. debhelper on bo needs perl and fileutils upgraded first. It is a package of scripts, so it doesn't care about libc versions. +--+ + Paul Wade Greenbush
