I have a plextor CD Writer on my PC , after booting from CD writer and running
setup checks , debian throws an error that says can not find the CD ROM device
while it`s booting from this device ! what` s the problem?

Does anybody know how this can be done?
(The whole thing is this:
1. Some piece of software creates some report, which is my ascii text
2. I have 2 images (logos)
3. I want a PDF file containing the logo

Ext3 nearly toasted my ide-hd and "tidied up" about every second
directory on the /var partition on a __smp__ machine ...
The hd is still alive running now reiserfs without a problem so
far. I'll wait for xfs to become stable...

(dpkg --force-conflicts -i qmail... should be your friend ... and then
remove/purge exim)
Iirc, I had to force things to install qmail on my box, too.
(And, be careful not to lose mail due to the mailserver change, qmail
accomplishes some tasks

I've recompiled and installed kernels before and haven't had this
problem. I downloaded the kernel source and headers debs for 2.2.14,
rebuilt and recompiled the kernel source without any errors, then did a
make dep. Next, found the *Custom* kernel in /usr/src, and tried to
install it with make-kpk
I upgraded libc6_2.1, libwraster1, xlib6g from potato so I could upgrade
to wmaker_0.60. While I was at it I upgraded gnome to the latest in potato.
After that, I ran fetchmail, then tried to get my mail using Netscape.
Netscape told me I didn't have any new messages. After 5 or 10 minutes,
