umount problem

I received a lot of quick feedback on this problem that really helped. I had too many processes open that I had not accounted for. On both tty1 and tty2 I repeatedly entered the command "exit" until I was able to identify jobs that had been stopped. After terminating these I was able to umount

I can't get umount to unmount my cdrom or floppy drive (at least not in a reliable way). So far I have had one horrific crash as a result of this problem :-( . I have tried a lot of different options and read a lot but have seen no solution to "device busy" etc. I am going to leave my system o
