GDM startup fail

This is strange, I normally shutdown the system but next time boot up, gdm can't startup the Xwindow. It just flashed a time, go to blackscreen, and repeat this step for arround 5 times. Finally gdm said 'Seems sth. goes bad. can't start x. ' I switch to xdm with kde, it works fine. I manually

gdm root user startup with many windows

Hi, I log in with root to gdm and lots of windows pop up, including many mozilla, some info windows said that some applications not properly closed, if I'd close them. I've checked /root/.* folders, but did not find such applications to load when startup. I think it might be some zombies
