i recently re-installed Debin 3.0, and now, when i boot, it just asks

In short: I need to figure out how to install *any* current Debian image on my
system.
I've tried - 3.0R2 Disk 1 and 5 (default and bf2.4 respectively)
- netinst images - pretty much all of them
- Sarge Beta2 of Debian installer

i think you can boot linux with this parameters and then repair your
lilo.conf

Ok, I'm stupid. I am trying to install v1.2 from a cdrom. When I boot the
kernel sees my sbpcd drive through the probing of that module. However no
device seems to be set up or mounted. I have tried to mount the /cdrom to
nearly every device in /dev but no luck.
What simple thing am I missin
S/WIN95 utilities (when I started using linux, I was more
comfortable doing it this way).
