instructive.
I did a apt-get remove of xdm and gdm. The reason being that I wanted as few
packages as possible to do what I like to do.

Hi
I have a sarge installation and only got to chose between gdm and xdm.
I have read the thread on "GUI login screen" and have a difficulty to decide
what to do to get rid of a graphic login.

Debian Linux Sarge kernel:2.4.22-1-386
Only in a society that has
net-HOWTO I gathered that I could use 'ether=' as boot parameters to
this compiled in driver. I have an installation of Mandrake8.0-Cooker and
from that I got irq=10 and io= d000 - d0ff.
I thus booted with 'linux ether=10,0xd000,eth0' and got no better.
What am I doing wrong?

bugs instead of upgrading.
But it is a free choice and you may reign your way.

als and ridicules off 'fonting' in reverse
video, acting as if modern CRT's still may be burnt out. You seem to
dress your computer like a Hot Rod with all bells and whistles open and
shining, I more prefer a kayak and a quiet 'stroll' among the islands.

a nice little newbie starting
Debian. Based on mc and nedit, when we are talking editors.
This newbie base, or 'sapper' as I called it, could be the 'bus stop'
for the daunting experience of dselect (death select, for me many
times).

Hi
Yesterday I sent the following proposal to the [EMAIL PROTECTED], the
copy you are seeing has been spelling checked, mine was not. I am
sending this from Mandrake as I have got a bug or something in Kicker in
my Potato.
Is it hot enough to get you coughing?

so I can not tell you why, only what I did.
I added "deb http://kde.tdyc.com potato kde2" to the /etc/apt/sources.list
Then I did a "apt-get update && apt-get install" and in dselect I did an
(U)pdate and then I
said yes to all dependencies when in select. That's about it.

and others.
I still don't have spelling in Netscape although ispell is up to date.
Som fine asshole have divided netscape in fifty packages, hard to find
for an old man.

any newcomer could be
given the opportunity to install through apt-get and part of the three
iso images. The difficulties and enormous choices with dselect could be
left for the more advanced users.
Personally I would like as a newbie that programs like Netscape with
spellchecking included could be downloaded through one choice.
