hung, the installation lost part of the process, but the settings made in
LVM were used for the automatic installation, obviously, because it
finished almost like in a flash.

I found the source of the problem myself: the sound-daemon esd was
grabbing the ressources of the soundcard, so programs have to be
configured to communicate with esd rather than ALSA...
