I have exactly the same problem. Also running Feisty. I used the following to compile the kernel: sudo make-kpkg --initrd --append-to-version=-1-Custom kernel_image kernel_headers My /lib/modules/$(uname -r) folder is huge as well. All the modules have bigger than normal sizes - every modules
