My devfs (sid,2.4.4) seems to insist on making my cd as group disk:
brw-rw1 root disk 22, 0 Dec 31 1969
/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/cd
I'd like it to be group cdrom. I've tried to make this happen with chgrp,
but these changes aren't stable across reboots. It always sets
Anybody got a guide or FAQ on how to get my ALSA happy with the brave new world
of devfs?
I had no problems compiling and running ALSA in 2.2.18 and 0.5.8 modules but
2.4.4 w/devfs and 0.9x modules are barfing up errors about /dev/dsp and
/dev/mixer, which I don't have in /dev anymore.

Just like it says. I was running apt-get update/upgrade this am ( I run
unstable) and now I can't configure any packages I install.

The win4lin installer seems heavily rpm-centric.
Has anyone had any luck getting win4lin to work? I just tried running alien on
the rpm but I'm getting nowhere fast.
I recompiled my 2.2.18 kernel with their patches, but I'd appreciate anyones
