How is the X authorization set up in Debian?
I am running xdm and I discovered that only the login user can
start an X window. There are 2 situations when I cannot start a
X window:
(1) when I try to start a window after 'su' to root. I discovered this
can be fixed if I do 'xhost +mymachinena

I am contemplating installing debian on an
IBM thinkpad 560 Dual scan. Are there any
special things to do regarding this computer?
Are there Linux utilities to test the battery
level etc?

Have you looked in Netscape.
Would the release of debian 1.1 use the new stable Linux (v2.0)?

It is the Aladdin version of gs you want. It is in the non-free
directory.

Does debian 1.1 observe the arrangement of the Linux kernel with
regards to include files etc? ie should there be symlinks /usr/include
to include and asm subdirectories in /usr/src/linux?

I have just discovered that there are some button functions missing.
The menu from the top-left corner does not appear when I click on the
top-left button. Also no list of windows when I click on the right mouse
button.

but it appears to be misdefined. It is defined as character type 10,
