Hello,
I have a fresh install of Debian stretch including the relatively old vim
8. There is no vim version in stretch-backports. One solution is to
download the latest source from vim.org and build it on my pc but then I

Hello,
I downloaded firmware-9.6.0-amd64-netinst.iso and successfully installed a
minimal debian stretch on my UEFI/GPT disk. I then I replaced all
references to "stretch" with "testing" in /etc/apt/sources.list and
executed sudo apt update; sudo apt install gnome-core firefox-esr.
Everything work

I need a dedicated linux server in the US. I know this has been asked before
but everything changes quickly in the hosting market.
Can anyone pass on good experiences or recommendations of good hosting
companies offering dediated Debian servers in the United States.

Simon, I am also a recent convert from redhat to Debian. It would be good to
share experiences of moving production systems over. I have got setup with
'stable' but I have had to upgrade php / apache / mysql. For mysql I managed
to use backports. For php4 / apache, I compiled from source.

I'm trying to boot the Debian 1.2 rescure disk on a Gateway 2000
system and it's hanging in the boot process. (I already have an older
version on Linux (non-Debian) running on this box.) It's hanging
while probing for CDROM drives. The last few lines I see are:
