Hi all:
I'm trying to install icewm-gnome in woody, and the install stops
trying to install a dependency icewm-common (1.0.7-1) with the
complaint of :

Geocrawler had e-mailswith this complaint but the only solution

Hi Shyam:
If you are trying to slice up win98 safely without losing data, it's
normal to use fips for making room for linux partition. (See

Hi Antonio:
I would think you should be able to just go into win fdisk in
msdos and find out which partition it was (

Hi jennyw:
Did you find anything. I had the same problem and located a place
on the web to get it going again. I don't have an url but I made a
hard copy so I could retype it and send what I found if you want.

Hello again:
I'm out of ideas. The time I was in a loop ( I upgraded
a package which wiped out another necessary package
for installing packages and since that package wasn't on
my system it couldn't install any other packages, even the
package that was necessary.) I went to geocrawler and did

Hi all:
Yes I believe you do need to make the /hda2 partition bootable.
Try going into fdisk ( any flavor) and mark your root partition as
the boot partition and then lilo will boot depending on how your
lilo.config is set up. HTH Dean

Hi Christian:
I take you tried :
apt-get -f install
and it continued to give the loop?
Does throwing some -v give any more clues?

Since the problem is with pert-*-suid can you
rm that first? HTH Dean

Hi Jim:
There is hope. I just went through the same problem and was able
to locate a web page devoted to this problem. I didn't save the url
but I used geocrawler to search debian-user for ldso. ( or maybe
it was ldconfig). Anyway it told how to reload ldconfig for those who
tried to upgrade to woo

Thanks kmself
I loaded bin86 ( I thought I needed binutils) and that
did take care of that error. Now it complains it can't
find linux/config.h . Does this mean it requires a linux
kernel compilation to compile itself? TIA Dean

Received this error in trying to make lilo:
make: ld86:command not found
make: *** [temp2.ing] error 127
I've tried installing most current libutils,
locales, and libc6. Tried lilo 21.7 and 21.6
no dice. Do I need as86 or what? TIA Dean
Hi scud:
looks like that should work. Did you /sbin/lilo after changing
/etc/lilo.conf ? Where there any error messages? When the
lilo prompt shows at boot, what shows up when you hit shift?
I now have win95, win98, msdos, and linux on hda and lilo
boots them all. Lilo's great!! HTH Dean

I am trying to use lilo to boot 2 partitions in hda that
are both using msdos. One win 95 and one win 3.1.
Can someone point me to a fm so I can rtfm or a
something? TIADean
