Actually, when the computer starts, the monitor is turned on and I can see
the BIOS screen, grub, etc.
It is turned off when X starts.
Sorry, I forgot to say that in the original message.

Any hint on how to solve this?

Hello, John.
I used sometimes the Acronis Disk Director software. You can download a
trial version from www.acronis.com. Then, you can resize your disk. Or,
may be, you prepare a boot CD, and start with him. Be careful with the
version of Acronis, because an old version could damage your parti

Thank you for your reply.
Last night out of curiosity I installed etch again this time leaving
it to the default linux-image-2.6-686
On reboot I was bemused to see the output of uname -a showed the same
kernel 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP as
e, working up from 60Hz in small
increments. Perhaps this may save you eye problems in later life.
And if by any chance my information may have possible ill effects for
hardware or humans, someone will correct me.

5) And Is there a tutorial on looking this kind of thing up in say
Google Groups?
Thanks for any replies to any part of the questions.

Has anyone recently done a raw install of exim4, and would like to assist ?

it from the Debian package list and it works, except that the stats are being

behavior? I've looked at my cron settings and I can't see anything that
might be doing this. Is there something I'm missing?

Hola.
Cual es el mejor antivirus para su distribución, es para el servidor de

Gracias.
How does one copy a complete Linux
install from one hard drive to another? I've tried using the cp command
with various parameters, but to no avail. There seems to be lots of
special files and directories (/proc for example) that cp can't handle.
Any suggestions?

Thank you Peter!
Yes it recognizes the different partitions, GREAT and easy!. All the
DOS formated disks work well and get mounted (being /dev/sda1 or
/dev/sda4). How do you get ext2 format to be mounted with JaZip?

Andres.

Hallo John!
thanks! Yes I know that, I my self have acces here in the uni to 2
diferent versions of the Zip Drive, the question goes to the zip
disks. I found some that are formated from factory and read only at
/dev/sda1 and others with the normal /dev/sda4. About the ZIP-linux is

Hello all!
I have read everywhere that all the ZIP disks are formated /dev/sda4
but I got a bunch of ZIPs that are /dev/sda1, that is no problem at
all, but only curious about that. I also saw that JAZIP does not read
them, but I guess is only that I have not set up the conf. file
correctly.
