Do a 'cat /proc/interrupts' to see if there are any conflicts and turn off
the PnP option. You should also take a look at the Ethernet HOWTO (you'll
find that at linux.com, for example), it helped me with a similar issue.

had any harddisk crashes, that's why I think that using a linear RAID
wouldn't be too much of a problem...but how do I create it prior to
installing Debian?
Is this possible? How would I do it without turning my computer into a huge
paperweight?
