everybody learns in different ways. that's for sure. so the stroustrup book
may be the one for you.
however, i have had much more success with other books (like the
primer). while he may be a buddha when it comes to writing languages, i don't
think stroustrup is that great of a teacher ... so far

me again. mr. "having problems installing" again, my screen blacks out at the
first - i.e. color/monochrome - dialogue box. the problem is that the install
process mis-identifies the chip (it seems). seems like i (to quote):

i tried the terca rescue (boot) disk but i get the same problem. the boot
sequence seems fine until after the stream of text; that is, until right
before the first dialogue window (concerning color/monochrome display). upon

if you mean using my "read the non backlit screen technique" i chose a color
monitor, then i chose next (i actually saw a bit of color in the screen), then
a lot of text came up and i chose continue then a screen with "set up
keyboard" or something like that came up and i threw in the towel.
