this is common to all the 945gc boards or not, but etch worked
for me with the exception of the built-in ethernet.
If you get bitten by the same bug, your options are to either a) install a pci
network card or b) install a newer kernel than 2.6.18. I opted for a kernel
from testing and everyt
orce chipset and was complaining of the same
problem. I ran out of ideas pretty quickly but he discovered that if he
disabled the firewalling features of his broadband router, the network speed
would go back to normal. (I'm not sure what his ultimate solution was.)
If you are behind a r

syntax instead of the 'old way.' Here's a sample of my interfaces file:

netmask 255.255.255.252
gateway 123.456.789.1
up ip addr add 10.1.250.15/24 brd 10.1.250.255 dev eth0 label eth0:0
up ip addr add 10.10.10.15/24 brd 10.10.10.255 dev eth0

While I'm not yet convinced that you've been rooted, the fact that top doesn't
show anything suspect is a moot point. If you have in fact been compromised
there's not a single binary on the system that you can trust, including top.
Regar
the boot prompt there will be an example of how to force
ide-generic or something like that (I don't have my CD handy.)
While slow, it worked well enough to get Lenny installed. I was then able to
install the 2.6.21 that was then in unstable. You may be able to get Etch
installed the sam
. I wonder if my
CD (which is quite a bit older than the one mentioned in the article) has
that problem. I do remember being impressed that the driver CD supported
Debian.

That makes sense, as your firewall has nothing to block when your network
interface is down.

problem not only with people who don't know any better, but also with other
technical people.
I've found it's easier to find out what mail client they're using and adjust

installed the 2.6.21 kernel from sid. It was more of a headache than I've had
before installing debian, but not a huge deal.
As I recall, the problem in my case was related to the Marvell PATA controller
and the kernel's lack of a driver for it. The symptoms were sluggish reads
from
lways use dd_rescue first to make an
image of the disk either to another drive or to an image file. ntfsfix could
fix his problem, but if not, it's a good idea to be able to get back to
square one.

I would suggest creating a new user on your system, and then logging in as
that new user. If everything works, you should be able to 'reset' your kde
settings by renaming your ~/.kde/ directory.

On the other hand, I'd like to say that, in all my years online, this is the
nicest back and forth about religion that I have ever seen. Maybe it is
because it didn't occur on slashdot.

I was able to use the module-assistant package to build and install the rt2500
drivers. module-assistant list-available found several RaLink chipsets you
could try.

The thing to remember is that all these packages are already installed.
The new versions total 227MB, but the _difference_ in installed size is
only 1.5MB

>awk '/Section "Device"/,/EndSection/' /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic Video Card"
Driver "i810"
# Driver "vesa"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
