The howto is available at the Xen site, even
Debian-related. I tried both the debootstrap and the "normal"
installations, and both worked well. My test machine for that is now 4
machines :-)

Installing an older xserver seems to be a workaround
again, but still Issue 1 is the same.
So at the moment, only that old ASUS laptop (P3-750) runs fine - but that
one uses sarge instead of sid...
Anyone who can help?

If I 'kill -HUP 21641', everything looks ok again. The apache/rrdtool/cacti
logs show me nothing about the problem, so where should I look?
How could I find out *what* this php4 process is trying to do and why it
takes so long?

in unstable, some upgrade must have shot my locales-config. I
'dpkg-reconfigure'd it, but the default 'C' locale is missing.
Does anyone have a clue what happened and where and how I can get it back?
Programs like Thunderbird complain since then...

machine - and top tells me it's a php4 process eating up all these CPU
cycles.
Now where and how can I find out, which program starts that particular PHP4?
The apache logs show nothing; the same for messages...

the kernel versions up to 2.4.x don't support SATA disks; you could attach a
normal ide disk and install on it, then later get a kernel 2.6, or wait for
alioth to be up again, and from there get a 2.6 installer.
